How to setup a Product Block in an email?

3 min read

If you are wondering how you can take advantage of the high personalization from our Product Blocks but in the email communication you send to your clients, you have come to the right place! Let’s begin!

Let’s begin #

The first step would be to open the email you would like to place a Product Block in, so navigate to ‘Marketing channels’ (from the side menu) and select ‘Emails’ from the available options:

Placing the Product Block #

Once you’ve opened the email you will be working with, you can begin by drag and dropping a ‘Structure’ from the right side options to where the Product block will be located:

After the Structure has been placed, you can either click on the Product block icon within the structure or drag and drop the Product block option from the Blocks section:

Option one #

Click on the Product block icon as shown on the GIF down below:

Option two #

From the right-side menu, expand the Blocks section and locate the Product Block option. Then drag and drop it to the email where your structure is located as shown on the GIF below:

Now that you have successfully placed a Product block in your email, make sure the Product Block section is actually selected (you’ll see a border surrounding it for confirmation), on the right side the options menu will change allowing you to make changes to the Product block itself:

  1. Product Feed – here, you can select a Product feed from ones you have already created. If you would like to know more on how to create your own Product Feeds, please check this article – How to create a new Product Feed?
  2. Layout – this is what dictates how the Products within the email will look like. Similar to the Product blocks on the Web, here too you need to select a Layout from the available ones.
  3. Total products to show – simply choose the amount of products you would like to be displayed in the email.

Warning!

It’s recommended to leave the number of Products around 10 to 14 (depending on the overall length of your email). More products that that might cause Gmail and some other email providers to cut the email displaying a link to view it whole.

Sending yourself a test Email #

After you have chosen all three of the above option and you have set everything to your liking, the next and most important step is to send yourself a Test email. That way, you can easily see what your users will receive and catch potential issues (like improperly set Product Feed or Layout).

To send yourself a test email, click on the blue button ‘Test Email’:

This will open a modal to confirm the ‘Send to’ email and even the email which you would like to impersonate (in the event you would like to see what kind of items a particular client would receive).

After you have made your choices, click on the ‘Send’ button and in a bit you will receive the test email in your Inbox

If you are happy with the end results and the way the email looks, you can click on the Save button located at the bottom right corner of the page which will Save all the changes you have done so far.
