Before you begin #
Important: The person that connects your Google Ads account to Releva needs to have Admin rights in both Google Ads and Google Analytics.
In addition to this, before you proceed make sure User Data Collection Acknowledgement is set to Acknowledged in GA4.
If you are unsure where to find the setting for User Data Collection Acknowledgement, check here.
Also, another very important step.
If by any chance your Google Ads account is not connected to Google Analytics, please check the article down below from Google and connect them:

First Steps #
The first steps would be to open your Admin panel in Releva, expand the Settings menu on the side and then select Google.
Once on the page, you will be greeted by a lovely ‘Connect Google to Releva’ button in the middle. Make sure to click in in order to proceed to the next step.

Upon clicking the button, a familiar Google pop-up will appear where you will need to select the account you’re attempting to connect to Releva.
Here, we would like once again to remind that the person connecting the accounts need to have Admin right in both Google Ads and Google Analytics.

Next, simply click on the button Continue.

On this step, it’s important to Select all of the available permissions listed in the pop-up, otherwise some of the functionality may not function properly and the Ad performance may suffer as a result.

Back to Releva #
After approving and giving all of the permissions listed in the pop-up, the connection is made but that’s not the last part of the configuration.
Select the Ad account #
The Google Ads page in Releva will refresh revealing some new settings and options. Now, click on the drop-down menu for the Ad account option and select the one we shall we configuring:

When the Ad account is selected, more options will appear but for now we shall proceed forward and click on the button Next.

Google Analytics options #
On the tab, click on the drop-down options and select the Google Analytics account which you would like to connect:

Then, select the Google Analytics property linked to your Google Ads account:

Make sure to Link the property to Google Ads by clicking the Link button:

This is the reason it’s important the person doing this action to have Admin rights in both Google Ads and Google Analytics. If you don’t have these right in one of them, you will receive an error message.
Make sure ‘Import Google Analytcs audiances’ is set to ON, and then proceed to select the Data Stream from the drop down:

The only thing left to do is to set the ‘Backend Tracking’ option to ON (which is recommended for better Ad performance):

When ready, click on the Save button at the bottom-right in order to save all of the settings in both tabs.
If you’re experiencing any errors when saving, please check here for possible solutions.
Setting the Assets #
Now that the account has been connected properly, it’s time to set the Assets so let’s go back to the Google Ads account for this.
If you plan to launch Performance Max campaigns, it’s highly recommended to create the initial minimum number of assets. Rest assured, you will be able to use more Assets in your Performance Max campaigns when you are launching them.
When ready, click on the ‘Add Required Assets’ button:

This action will open a pop-up where you would be able to enter all of the required assets from Headlines, Descriptions to images and Logos.

Please note, every single Asset in the pop-up is required, so make sure to fill all of them before clicking the Save button.
When ready, click on the Save button, located at the bottom-right of the pop-up.

Once saved, the pop-up will close and you will see the Assets have been added.

And with that, you have successfully connected your Google Ads account with Releva!
Possible error messages and how to fix them #

After this part is done, go back to Releva, reload the page and after filling the Google Analytics options and click Save.
Google Ads account has not been set #
If you are getting an error message like the one down below, this means you have not gone through the full setup and have attempted to set the Assets before the finishing with the connection.

In order to fix this, please save the answers somewhere, click Close and follow the steps for Google Analytics as well. Once done and all of the settings have been Saved, you can go back to the Google Ads tab and click on Assets to set them up.
