How to use Surveys in the different Marketing channels?

7 min read

The first requirement is of course to have a created Survey you would like to use. If you still don’t have one, check the article down below:

What are Surveys and how to create one?

Emails #

Let us first check one of the most use channels for marketing and see how you can utilize and include your brand new survey. There are a couple of ways you can use it and we will cover both so you can choose which one you like best or suits your current situation. Now, open an existing email or create a brand new one and let’s get down to business!

Via a Button #

One of the easiest and more visually pleasant ways is via the use of Buttons. From the right side menu, expand the Blocks menu, choose the Button option and drag it wherever you would like in the email as shown in the screenshot below:

Once placed, click on the button itself which will reveal its settings in the right-sided panel.

Open the drop-down menu under the Link section to expand the options and scroll down until you find the Survey you would like to use, after which select it.

The end result should look like that:

What’s left is to customise the button to look however you want it to look via the Label, font type and size, colour etc.

After the email is created, we highly recommend you to send yourself a test email to make sure everything is okay with the button, email and the Survey itself.

Via Merge Tags #

Another way to send a link to the Surveys is via the MergeTags. For this though, we will first need to copy the Token ID of the Survey we have created so open another tab, visit the Surveys page and copy its ID:

Once copied, go back to the tab with your email and click on a test field. Doing so will reveal the Formatting bar on top and on its right side you will find the Merge tags drop-down. Click on it and select the Survey Link option.

This will add the Merge tag in the text field. The next step would be to replace <surveyToken> (yes, that includes the Greater than and Less than symbols) by pasting the Token ID between the apostrophe symbols.

The end result should look like this:

Please note, this method will paste the full length link as is which may not have the prettiest result.

Another clever way you can include the Surveys in your emails is via links. It will be a lot more subtle way to incorporate the Survey links to your emails but in some cases it might be quite useful.

First, write or choose a sentence or word you will be using for this and select it. Doing so will reveal the Formatting bar on top once again so you can click on this Link icon:

Similar to the Button option above, click on the Site drop-down and choose the Survey you would like to use from the options:

If you want to further emphasize that’s a link, you can change the Link color from the options above.

Push Notifications #

Push notifications are another easy and fast way to share the Survey with your users. With this marketing channel, the only option we have is the use of Merge Tags so make sure to copy the Token ID of the Survey you would like to use.

First, we will first need to copy the Token ID of the Survey we have created so visit the Surveys page and copy its ID:

Then open and prepare the Push notification for use and while being at the Content tab, click on the Merge Tags button located on the right side of the Body field:

From the expanded menu, locate Survey Link and copy its Merge tag (selected on the below image):

Having copied the Merge tag, now we move to the Behavior tab and paste it in the Link field:

The next step would be to replace <surveyToken> (yes, that includes the Greater than and Less than symbols) by pasting the Token ID between the apostrophe symbols.

The end result should look like the image below:

All that is left is to save the Push notification and then send yourself a test one in order to confirm everything is working as intended.

Text Messages (SMS) #

Even though it might be a bit old-fashioned nowadays, SMS still plays a big role in our day-to-day communications which is why this is another way you would be able to share your Survey link with your users.

The URL of the Survey will be shortened by us using go.releva.ai domain.

For this though, we will first need to copy the Token ID of the Survey we have created so open another tab, visit the Surveys page and copy the ID:

Then open and prepare the SMS Message, then click on the Merge Tags button located on the right side of the Message field:

From the expanded menu, locate Survey Link and copy its Merge tag (selected on the below image):

Having copied the Merge tag, place it in the Message field.

The next step would be to replace <surveyToken> (yes, that includes the Greater than and Less than symbols) by pasting the Token ID between the apostrophe symbols.

Once you have saved the SMS message, don’t forget to open it up and send yourself a test one to make sure everything is working as intended.

Viber messages #

Another great way to (depending on the market) is the use of Viber messages as they can be rich and contain a lot more information and data then SMS, so let’s dive in!

First we will need to copy the Token ID of the Survey we have created so open another tab, visit the Surveys page and copy the ID:

Then open and prepare the Viber Message, where the first step would be to select the Mode so let’s check both of them separately alongside their individual advantages:

Text mode #

Text mode is the closest it can get to the SMS experience – simply send a text and a shortened URL. Now, click on the Merge Tags button located on the right side of the Message field:

From the expanded menu, locate Survey Link and copy its Merge tag (selected on the below image):

Having copied the Merge tag, place it in the Message field.

The next step would be to replace <surveyToken> (yes, that includes the Greater than and Less than symbols) by pasting the Token ID between the apostrophe symbols.

Multimedia mode #

This mode will allow you a lot more flexibility and customization with the use of button, text and an image. Now, click on the Merge Tags button located on the right side of the Message field:

From the expanded menu, locate Survey Link and copy its Merge tag (selected on the below image):

Having copied the Merge tag, place it in the Button URL field.

The next step would be to replace <surveyToken> (yes, that includes the Greater than and Less than symbols) by pasting the Token ID between the apostrophe symbols.

Alongside that, don’t forget to write a text for the button in the Button Text field right above the URL one.

Once you have saved the Viber message, don’t forget to open it up and send yourself a test one to make sure everything is working as intended.

Please note, once you have incorporated the Survey in the Marketing channel of your choice, you can go ahead and send it to your userbase via Workflows.
