An AI sales agent sells to every visitor, not just the ones who ask.
It learns your products, your business and each shopper from the first visit. Then it ranks your search, picks the products on every page, answers the chat, sends the messages and tells your ads who to find, toward the goal you choose.
- Works for the 9 in 10 visitors who never chat or sign up
- One profile per shopper, from the first visit, before any login
- Proven with a holdout group in your own orders
An AI sales agent for ecommerce is software that does the job of a good salesperson in an online store. It notices who walked in, works out what they want, shows them the right products, answers their questions, follows up when they leave, and brings them back.
It does this for every visitor at the same time, on the site, in the app, in the inbox and in your ad audiences. It knows your products, your business and each shopper without training, reaches every visitor rather than the few who chat, search or open an email, and converts toward your goal: quick sales, bigger baskets or lifetime value.
It is not a chatbot, which only helps the shoppers who open the chat (under 1 in 30 visits, per the public data on why one agent). It is not an outbound sales agent for B2B teams, which books meetings. It is the personal shopper your store gives to everyone.
What an AI sales agent is, and what it is not
Three things people mean by "AI sales agent"
The phrase covers three different products. Outbound sales agents write emails and book meetings for B2B sales teams; they have nothing to do with a store. AI chatbots answer shoppers who start a conversation; they help the few who ask. An AI sales agent for ecommerce works with every visitor, whether they ask or not. This page is about the third one.
Why "every visitor" is the whole point
Most stores have five tools that each see a slice of the shoppers. Chat reaches under 1 in 30 visits. Site search is used by about 1 in 6 shoppers. Email and SMS reach under 1 in 10 visitors, and only those who gave consent. The rest browse, leave and hear nothing. A sales agent starts at the first interaction, not the first login, so the quiet majority gets served too. The sources for those shares are on why one agent.
One memory, four jobs
The agent keeps one profile per shopper: the ad that brought them, what they searched, what they viewed, what they asked in chat, every message they opened, every order. From that one memory it does four jobs. It sells on your site with personalized search, product recommendations, banners and a chat that answers from your live catalog. It brings customers back with email, web and app push, SMS, Viber and WhatsApp, journeys, a loyalty program and feedback forms. It tells your ads who to find with audiences built from predicted customer value for Meta, Google and TikTok. And it works with your marketer, through a co-pilot that answers from the same memory (in beta).
How a sales agent decides
You set the goal: more conversions, bigger baskets or long-term customer value. The agent decides per person and per placement what to show, what to send and when. It does not follow a rulebook; it learns what works in your store from the results of its own decisions. Ad platforms optimize for their own numbers the same way for everyone. Here the goal is yours.
Proof comes from your own orders. A holdout group of visitors is kept without the agent, and the difference is the lift. Every order the agent claims is an order you can open. The method is on how it decides.
What it needs from you
Your catalog with stock and prices, your orders, and the events from your site and app. On Shopify and platforms with a plug-in it goes live the same day; other platforms take 3 to 5 business days for all tools. Nothing to train: it learns your products and your shoppers on its own. It runs next to the email tool you already have, so you can start with one flow and compare.
How to judge an AI sales agent before you buy one
Seven questions separate a sales agent from a chatbot with a new name.
1. Does it work for anonymous visitors? Ask what it does for a first-time visitor who never logs in. If the answer is "it waits for the email", it is a messaging tool.
2. Is there one profile per shopper? Search, chat, email and ads should read and write the same memory. Five tools with five profiles learn nothing from each other.
3. Who sets the goal? You should be able to say "baskets this quarter" and see the agent change what it shows. If every store gets the same logic, it is not deciding.
4. How is the lift proven? Ask for a holdout group, not attributed revenue. Attribution credits the last click; a holdout shows what would have happened without the agent.
5. Are orders counted once? If an email click and a push click both get credit for one order, the reports will flatter every channel.
6. Does it speak your market? Viber in Bulgaria and Greece, WhatsApp in Southeast Asia, your local platform (Gomag, MerchantPro, CloudCart) and your language.
7. How fast is go-live, and what does it cost to run? Same day on a plug-in platform is possible. A team to run it should not be.
